Google Play Ups and Downs, Is Google failed to take care privacy of users again?

It's crucial to be cautious when choosing VPN apps, especially given the risks associated with privacy and security.

There are 3.9 billion users worldwide using Android smart devices by 2024. All of them use Google Play Store to install official apps. But here we found some app in play store which can hack your facebook, instagram, whatsapp, yahoo email, any app and your gallery photos.

Recently we have used some VPN apps from Google Play Store. These apps did a mid-man attack on our devices and successfully stole my official and personal Facebook ID. Because the hacker hacked my id 7 months ago by the time I tried to use, to recover my id it was too late and my recovery links via Facebook were expired.

Hackers also used my Instagram account and followed many accounts from my Instagram account.

Another reason my friend used a different VPN app from google play store, also tricked her and hacked her Whatsapp account, and after some time called her mobile number. And she recovered her WhatsApp account very hard and found some unknown groups and chats in his account.

I recently searched the Google Play Store for VPN apps and found four dangerous apps that are still in the Google Play Store. And interestingly, these apps have similar Android user interface. And I found two developer accounts in which these four apps are published on google play store. Each developer published two VPN apps.

Millions of users are using these applications. I am listing these apps here to inform you all. Be careful about your privacy and do not use these applications and any other applications that look like these applications. And every two of these apps are from the same developer. Be careful and don't use any app from Developer "Inf Security Studio". And same strategy for other two apps these apps are also published in same developer account "MATRIX MOBILE PTE. LTD". Let's delve into this further:

  • Dangerous VPN Apps From Google Play Store:
You have highlighted several VPN apps that are dangerous for users and steal data and personal accounts. Let's discuss a few aspects:

XY VPN - Security Proxy VPN: With over 100 million downloads, this app requests six dangerous permissions, including reading phone state. Its privacy policy is ambiguous, claiming both no data collection and potential data collection.

Global VPN - Smart & Security: Despite having more than 10 million downloads, this app also comes from the same developer. Be cautious about its permissions and privacy practices.

VPN Inf - Security Stable VPN: Developed by "Inf Security Studio," this app has over 10 million downloads. Investigate its permissions thoroughly.

Melon VPN - Secure Proxy VPN: Another app from "Inf Security Studio" with a significant user base. Exercise caution.

  • VPN Apps and Permissions:
Virtual Private Network (VPN) apps are designed to enhance privacy and security by encrypting your internet traffic and masking your IP address.

However, some VPN apps may request excessive permissions that compromise user privacy. These permissions can include accessing sensitive data or controlling system settings.

It's essential to scrutinize the permissions requested by any app, especially VPNs, before granting access.

  • .Choosing a Reliable VPN:
When selecting a VPN, consider the following:

Reputation: Look for well-established VPN providers with positive reviews and a transparent privacy policy.
Permissions: Check the permissions requested by the app. Avoid those that ask for unnecessary access.
Logging Policy: Ensure the VPN has a strict no-logs policy, meaning they don't store your browsing history or personal data.

Jurisdiction: Be aware of the VPN's base location. Some countries have data retention laws that may compromise privacy.

Paid vs. Free: Free VPNs often come with limitations or privacy risks. Consider investing in a reputable paid VPN service.

  • Security Risks:
Unfortunately, some VPN apps harbor vulnerabilities or malicious code. Researchers have identified issues in various free VPN apps, affecting millions of users.

These vulnerabilities can allow hackers to intercept communications, steal sensitive information, and compromise user privacy.

  • Stay Informed:
Regularly check for updates on VPN apps and their security practices.

Be cautious about granting permissions, especially to apps with unclear privacy policies.
